On a Magnetic Potentiometer
Dating back to 1887, this paper by A.P.Chattock is the first record that describes the use of a winding on a long, flexible former for making magnetic measurements. This laid the foundations for what became known as the Rogowski coil.
Die Messung der magnetischen Spannung.
The definitive description for the Rogowski coil was given by Walter Rogowski and W. Steinhaus in 1912, in this paper.
